Discovery opportunities in Kazakhstan (on example of porphyry and epithermal systems).

Kazakhstan is known to be a significant copper and gold producer. At the same time, there an issue with the future of sustainable mining due to the lack of new deposits. During the Soviet era an extensive exploration programme led to the discovery of major shallow deposits. That was the pioneers time and today we live in their legacy. So, in order to discover new copper and gold deposits we should think differently and we should use different approaches. This will involve the application of new technologies and methods; but everything should start from new geological understanding. It is proposed that the porphyry and epithermal systems of Kazakhstan are reviewed in order to apply new ideas for exploration and to determine interesting areas that may contain future major discoveries.
