Richard Nicholls MAusIMM(CP) is a Senior Consultant (Mining Geology) and Competent Person with 22 years of diverse international experience¸ focusing on the estimation and reporting of Mineral Resources. Richard’s technical expertise includes geological modelling and Mineral Resource estimation and technical report preparation. He has experience in the planning and implementation of production and grade control strategies, the management of resource drilling programmes, QAQC and database management. Richard’s experience includes 11 years working on operating open pit mines in Namibia, Mali, Tanzania and Venezuela. Since joining SRK (UK) in 2009, he has focused on the authoring of Mineral Resource Estimation reports as well as resource reviews for due diligence studies, technical audits and Competent Persons’ Reports. Richard has worked on a range of base and precious metal deposits at exploration, feasibility and production stages in South America, Africa, Russia and Central Asia.
Leapfrog grade shells compared to manual wireframing - Kogadyr-6 mine, Kazakhstan
The Kogadyr exploration licence, owned by Central Asia Gold Corp LLP (CAG) and containing the open pit Kogadyr-6 mine, is located approximately 206 km west of Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan. The K-6 mine is situated approximately 20 km north of the border with Kyrgyzstan and 40 km north of Bishkek. The presentation will entail discussion of the Leapfrog modelling methodology for the K-6 mine, which formed part of the 2017 update of the Mineral Resource Estimate . Differences in mineralisation wireframes produced using implicit modelling and a traditional sectional approach will be discussed. In addition, the generation of the geological model will be explained.
